Founded in 2021, Portfolios Investment Company (PIC) is a fundamental long only equity investment management firm headquartered in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. PIC is an independent and management owned firm with single strategy aimed toward long term compounding of capital for our DPM and private funds investors. We deploy business ownership mindset that underlies our investment criteria of high-quality businesses, run by good capital allocators, operating in favorable competitive landscape.

Concentrated portfolio, long term prospective, research driven with embedded risk management framework. Size of portfolio holdings reflects our conviction in the stocks we own and our understanding of the underlying businesses of these companies, irrespective of their weight in the benchmark. We regard investment risk as permanent loss of capital and we mitigate it with our rigorous research.

Philosophy

Spending ample time on intense primary research with the objective of becoming the best-informed investor in stocks we identify can lead to a knowledge advantage. Opportunities occurs usually at times when markets often behave irrationally, making stocks trade at prices very different from intrinsic value and eventually rewarding the well prepared and informed investors. Our specialty in single asset class helps each member of our team focus on our clients’ objectives.

Our process is based on independent research and analysis with emphasize on intrinsic value, financial strength and demonstrated profitability, potential for continued growth and supported by qualitative factors such as pricing power, competitive advantage and quality of management. Selecting our clients is also as important as selecting investments. We want our clients to understand our investment principles, actions and results.

Our Solutions

PIC manages portfolios for High-Net-Worth individuals and institutional clients. Our strategies are focused geographically, whereby, we manage clients’ portfolios and funds primarily in companies listed in the Saudi stock market. We also manage portfolios of stocks listed in the GCC and MENA stock markets.

Investment Vehicles

Our investment strategies are offered through two investment vehicles to accommodate our clients’ needs:

Discretionary Portfolio Management (DPM):

Professionally managed investment portfolio of securities directly owned by the investor and managed according to a specific universe, style or discipline. With DPMs, investors directly own the individual securities in their portfolios. Investors may fund their portfolios with cash or stocks.

Private Funds:

Professionally managed investment vehicle that pools money from one or more investors for the purpose of investing in securities according to specific universe, style or discipline in accordance with the fund’s terms and conditions. Investors own units in a fund, which in turn owns the individual portfolio securities, hence, units in mutual funds are purchased with cash.

Our Team

PIC has a seasoned team who have a wealth of experience. Though PIC is recently founded firm, its investment team is not new to the investment landscape. PIC professionals’ investment experience began in 2004 and have performed research on securities in multiple sectors and industries. They have also managed portfolios over various business cycles.

Saud Aldughaither

Chairman of the Board

Saud is currently the Chairman of the board of directors at Portfolios Investment Company in addition to being a founding partner of the company. Saud started his career in 2005 working in the banking sector with major banks such as Credit Suisse London, Samba Financial Group, Saudi Hollandi Bank and the Saudi British Bank where the last position he held was Senior Treasury Risk Advisor. Throughout his career, Saud managed to establish several companies in different sectors including Real-Estate Development and Food & Beverages. He served as a board member in addition to chairing Audit and other financial committees in several companies. Saud holds a Bachelor’s degree from John Molson School of Business from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. He is also a Chartered Portfolio Manager (CPM) from the American Academy of Financial Management.

Mohammed Al-Nahash

CEO and CIO

Mohammed is the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer at Portfolios Investment Company. He is also a board member and founding partner in the company. He is a seasoned portfolio manager where he started his career in 2004 in the banking sector before moving to the investment management in 2006 with NCB Capital (currently SNB Capital) where his last position there was Senior Portfolio Manager in the Saudi equities. Prior to founding Portfolios Investment Company, he was Chief Investment Officer at Derayah Financial. Mohammed holds a bachelor degree in Finance from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.

Bader Aldughaither

Vice Chairman

Bader is the Vice Chairman and founding partner at Portfolios Investment Company. Bader holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from The American University In Dubai. He has experience in banking where he worked in the Treasury Division at The National Commercial Bank (Currently Saudi National Bank). He holds various certificates in Finance, investment and wealth management from Goldman Sachs, and other financial institutions.
